Sibu, My Home, My Destiny

Sibu - a city in the making, town of Swam, the central region of Sarawak...a brief intro about my hometown. I found its official website today...hahaha :O http://www.sibu.gov.my/

The website is well-designed and well-organised, with some information and photos about Sibu. After browsing this website, you might have different view about Sibu (I used to think there is no interesting place here). Check through the photo gallery of the landmarks, those photos are taken by professionals. I like the night view the most...

The current hot event here is Miss Tourism Pageant 2007. If you're lucky, you may have chance to see the beautiful delegates in the town. Interested to know more about event's information, visit -> http://misstourismpageant.com

Snapshots

Yesterday, I received my camera (bought it online), apple green in colour. I struggled before whether to buy it or not, because I seldom take photos. Deeply impressed by its design and specification, hopefully I can utilise it often and take more photos.

To test its quality, I took several photos near Town Square. Look at the orange kite, it had been long time that I didnt play kite. Grace likes to play kite, but her kite wont fly high... last time, we played kite at the old airport's runway. When she saw this photo, she asked me when will we go and play kite again? My answer...when you grow bigger and can run faster, then your kite will fly higher. :D

These swams really look nice...they are the symbol of my hometown. Actually I'm not sure why swam was chosen as the symbol, you wont find any swam in this town. Well...maybe the politicians wish to transform the ugly duckling to swam... grand mission!

How about these horses? nice... Last time the marble ball can rotate with fountain around it, however some superstitious people threw coins into the fountain, wishing to make big fortune and spoilt it.
Last but not least, the Sibu Creative Corridor - "诗巫创走廊" - newly built last month. There is nothing along the corridor, maybe they are coming soon...wait and see :) .

The Oldest Webblogger

Many people like blogging, not only the young, but also the elder. Guess how old is the oldest webblogger?? 65? 75? 85? The answer is 95!!! Amazing....

Maria Amelia Lopez, 95 years old, a Spanish woman just loves blogging. A lot of people visit her blog and ask for her advice. You can visit her blog at amis95.blogspot.com, but the language used is not English. From an interview, she told that she was introduced to Internet and blog by her grandson. She found that Internet was really useful with lots of information and blogging cherish her life.

I'm wondering where am I when I am 95, doing what, maybe already migrate to another world. :D This lady gives me big motivation to keep blogging... :D

Is Economy Crisis Coming soon?

The suprime mortgage problem in US had dragged down the world's stock market. DJIA is dropping, FTSE is dropping, HSI is dropping, do so KLCI. Most of the stock markets are in volatile phase, up and down repeatedly. FED tried to cut the interest rate to resolve the subprime mortgage problem, however this only results in the depreciation of USD. The continuous dropping of USD will lead to the collapse of world's finance market. Are we in recession already? Many experts predict that the economy crisis will come after the Olympic Games 2008. The China stock market is very hot this year, China people are queueing to open account and trade shares. Does thing always happen in such a way that we wish for???

Got some bad news from the newspaper, petro price will increase to 2.XX next year. In four years time (2011), we'll be pure importer for crude oil and no more subsidiary from government, the petro price might climb to 4.xx . My goodness! ! Imagine this....u need to pay 300++ for petro monthly in the future and everything else also increase in price! Dare not to image future life...know nothing is better. Sometimes, being an ostrich is a blessing...hahaha.

All the scientists, please find an alternative for petro - biodiesel, gas etc. Work harder, ok...thanks!

Mascots of Beijing Olympic Games 2008

Fuwa consists of five characters: BeiBei, JingJing, HuanHuan, YingYing, NiNi (北京欢迎你), carrying a message of friendship and peace. Very cute, right?

BeiBei is the Fish, symbol of prosperity and harvest.

JingJing is the Panda, brings the blessing of happiness.

HuanHuan is the Fire, symbolizing the Olympic Flame and passion.

YingYing is the Tibetan Antelope, carries the blessing of health.

NiNi is the Swallow, brings the blessing of good luck.

Which one do you like the most?

Santa Claus - Where are you?

Christmas is coming soon, in one month time. My house do not have chimney, so the Santa Claus cannot climb in and give me the present. This year, I really wish for a Christmas gift - a digital camera. Santa Claus, can you climb through the window? Hahaha...just kidding.

Read through many websites about digital camera and get the recommendation from friend, finally my pick --> Sony DSC W-90. Look at it, very cool, right!

The DSC-W90 combines the power of 8.1 megapixel resolution and the precision of a Carl Zeiss® 3X optical zoom lens with powerful, advanced features. Face Detection makes skin tones appear more natural, D-range optimization provides greater detail in highlights and shadows and in-camera retouching and red-eye reduction quickly improves shots you’ve already taken. And the Double Anti-Blur Solution lets you snap beautiful, clear photos in low light without flash to preserve the mood. For simple sharing with family and friends, HD (high definition) output makes photos look spectacular on compatible HDTV screens.

The description about the camera (http://www.sony.com.my/) sounds great! I'm still doing price surveying... Any comment about this?

My Buddy in UK

I just met and chat with my buddy Jasmine in UK through MSN Messenger. Thank to the advancement of Internet tools, nowadays communication is really convenient. Decades ago, we need to write letter, queue up at the post office to weigh the letter and buy the stamps, post the letter and stand beside the letter post daily waiting for the reply. When we receive the letter, the news in the letter already become history.

Today, we can chat with friends all over the world at anytime, even can see the person through webcam. It's touched to know someone, at the certain corner of the world, still missing you and overjoyed when we find one another online at the same time. I just want to sing loudly, "It's a small world after all.....lalala".

Jasmine, nice to hear from u. Gambate! 加油!All the best for your research and thesis writing! Welcome to my blog, you're the first reader...hehehe. Write your own blog when you're free in the future, i look forward to reading your blog soon.

Lion Hair

Finally, i made a decision to do something with my lion hair - too frizzy and untidy. I went to a hair saloon for a hair straightening. Phew! I sat from 9:30 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. to get my lion hair done. I nearly dozed off during the process, but i forced myself to stay awake...dont want to see a coconut head after i wake up. Aiyoo...got pain at the shoulder and backbone after sitting so long...realised that i'm no longer young.

Hungry + thirsty...only drink some coffee in the morning...why it took so long, grumbled inside the heart. Finally, it's done - the result was OK, no longer look like lion hair....satisfied!!!

Relax & Laugh

Depression

I came across an article in the Reader’s Digest - “The Secret Men Won’t Admit”. The main discussion is about the depression problem and its impact on men. I found this discussion very impressive.

Roughly a third of the 121 million or more people worldwide who suffer depression are men. Too often, men fail to recognise the symptoms and get the treatment they need. Instead of being weeping, men are more apt to be irritable and angry. They come in complaining about problems at work or their performance on the the job. Their sadness and helplessness are hidden behind a mask of anger. Unfortunately, they fail to recognise that as a red flag.

(Reader’s Digest, Nov 2007, pp 85- 89)

They are easily hurt and lose their temper, deep feeling of insecurity. If you feel sad, admit and express it – never think that sadness isn’t macho. Share your burden with the family members or friends, and seek for advice. Treat yourself well – go travelling, go shopping, go for a big meal, buy anything that you wish for a long time. Go for psychotherapy and medication.

Women are vulnerable, so do men. Deal the problem with open mind.

Women are easily depressed too, due to emotion swing, hormone change, genetic inheritance etc. React to stress in more relaxing way. God protects and feeds even the birds, are we not much more valuable than they? Be faithful and pray…

RioVida

I’m a health-conscious person (well, actually not really too…because I like to eat titbit, just cant get rid of this bad habit). Then, why I said I was health-conscious? Because I’d tried many nutrition and detoxification products before. Just to name a fews: Nutrilite (Amway), USANA, New Health, Cosway, Natural Farm, PHP etc. Why take so many nutrition supplement? Need to try everything…otherwise how to know which one is the best!?

Recently, I was recommended to 4Life and the main component in this product is Transfer Factor. What is Transfer Factor? Actually it’s my first time to come across this term (I read a lots about nutrition but never heard about this). I bought a bottle of RioVida (fruit juice - taste like blackcurrant). I got some information about this product from its website: http://www.riovida.com/.

RioVida is the sole nutritional drink that combines transfer factors with antioxidants. In fact, it inspired the creation of an entirely new drink category—immune system support meets antioxidant energizers. As a blend of 100% pure juices, RioVida isn’t just an immune builder, although Transfer Factor E-XF increases cellular immune function by 283%; and it isn’t just an antioxidant source, although it contains fruits and berries higher in antioxidants than anything else known.

RioVida’s Transfer Factor E-XF:
* Gives your immune system a memory boost, reminding it of past health threats.
* Boosts or balances immune response, depending on the need.
* Educates new immune cells.
* Delivers a genetically-encoded “plan of action.”
* Speeds up the recognition phase, enabling your body to respond more quickly to whatever it encounters.

I’m taking 30 ml per day, so by next week I could write some testimonial about this RioVida. It’s quite expensive, but what to do? 女人天生都爱美!

A Speech From the Richest Man

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk abo! ut how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
Truer words have never been spoken!
* Note: Bill Gates - the richest man in the world. His fortune is not what I admire at, but his wisdom and life philosophy are what we need to learn. (Ohhh....Think twice....Actually quite admire at his fortune too...Money is important especially for a poor lady like me :D )

Angel vs Devil

Are you a good person? Most people think that they are good enough, they know they have weaknesses but it is acceptable because human is imperfect. We could easily accept our own weaknesses, but not the weaknesses of others.

Case 1
We bomb other when we are in great anger or deep depression and seldom feel guilty for scolding the innocent one. Inner thought: “ bad mood so must find a channel to release the tension, who ask you to disturb me?” On the other hand, if you’re bombed by other in the similar situation, you might be hurt, cant forgive that person and complained the rudeness of the person everywhere.

Case 2
You’re doing personal thing during office hour, e.g. blogging, email friends, surfing Web etc. When Mr X walks passing your place, you quickly switch to other program, pretending you’re busy with your work. Inner thought: “This Mr X likes to condemn others in front of the boss. It’s right for me to protect myself.” On the other hand, if you see Mr X doing the same thing, you might think in different way. Inner thought: “ This Mr X likes pretending.”

Do these cases sound familiar to you? Yes, we may face the similar situations before – condemn other meanwhile we do the same thing. Human tend to rationalize their own behaviour. We know human are not perfect, we could accept imperfection in ourselves but always hope other people to be perfect.
“How I wish to marry a perfect wife/husband! Charming, rich, considerate, always help me to finish household chores…”

“How I wish to work with a perfect boss! Capable, friendly, appreciate your work, give you bonus and increment annually…”

“How I wish to have a lot of friends! Helpful, smart, funny, 24 hours on call…”

Most people tend to seek perfection in other people, hoping other to behave in the ways that you wish for. Once disappointed, then tag that person as “devil”. Think about this…

I believe that there is no 100% good person – “angel” nor 100% bad person – “devil”. Human have strengths and weaknesses, accept this fact and you’ll be more relaxing in the relationship with others. Admire the strengths and bear the weaknesses in other people.

God bless….

Regimen

Recently, a lot of pimples, big and small, popped out just like chicken pox. I wondered what were the reasons for the breakout....i'm not in my adolescence. Weather? insufficient sleep? hormone change? too much chocolate? Still dont know the culprit for the problem.

Asking for advice around, wash my face frequently, wash my hair almost daily, change my pillow case, bedsheet and towel, drink more water, eat more fruits and vege and vitamin tablets, avoid fried food etc... what else i hadnt done???

Read some websites about the acne solution, and finally was recommended to read a testimonial about a skin regimen that she followed for years.

~Regimen~
Cleanser : Cetaphil
Acne Gel : PanOxyl 2.5%
Moisturiser : Neutrogena SPF15

I bought all the products from Guardian and tested for a few days. Cetaphil is a mild skin cleanser without fragrance and alkohol. Your skin feel soft and moisture after the cleansing. PanOxyl 2.5% could dry up the acne, however dont put excessive gel on the skin otherwise u might experience skin dryness and peeling. Neutrogena SPF15 is a light weight moisturiser that does not clog the pores, and yet protect your skin from UV ray.

I'll write about the result of this regimen after one month...hopefully can say sayonara to my acnes.

Holiday Trip

In three-week time, I'm going to Hong Kong + Disneyland + ShenZhen...Yahooooo!

Being dreamed about Disney Tour since childhood, finally the dream could become true. Although I am in my 30s, it sounds childish to anticipate a trip to Disneyland, but thanks God I dont have to wait until my retirement to be there!!! Halleluyah..

My concern now... money + weather !

Money, money $$$, how much expenses for one week trip? I think i'd to declare bankruptcy after the trip, no more titbit, no more magazines, no more shopping, no more skincare products for a few months...live like a beggar, headache! "钱到用时方恨少"... sigh!!!

Recently my sensitive nose became worse, easily got running nose, sneezing, sniffing... Could i survive in HK in Dec (winter time)? From today onwards, I must take a lot of vitamins, do more exercises to build up the stamina, otherwise i might not be able to stand the coldness and end up falling sick during the trip. A crazy thought flashed over...should i eat more and put on some weight so that got more body fat to be burnt later on?? Heheheh...better dont, never lose weight! Already evolved from human -> pig -> elephant...dont want to be a dinosaur in the end.

Dont worry so much...go for it, that's all!

Start counting the days...

Myself

Who am I? This question reminded me about the very first essay that normally we wrote in primary school. So normally we will tell about name, age, height, weight, hobbies, ambition, family members etc.

I'm not going to brief on these info, read my blog and you'll find out all about these...

Why i named this blog as MooMooCow's blog? Reasons behind... think like a cow, live like a cow, work like a cow and write the blog in cow language...hehehe

Anyway, welcome to my blog ! Hopefully i could put more effort on this and make it an interesting blog.
