Countdown...

Hong Kong Disneyland

Disneyland Theme Park has been my dream since childhood. During my stay in Hong Kong, we spent nearly one day there. There are four theme parks, namely Main Street USA, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

Basically there are not much to see at the Main Street USA. There are some souvenir shops, bakery and restaurants only. For those who like jungle adventure, you can enjoy yourself at the Adventure Land. You can have Jungle River Cruise, explore the Tree House, see the Lion King animated film etc.

The children could enjoy themselves at the Fantasyland as well as the adults. The theme park attractions include Cinderella Carousel, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Mad Hatter Tea Cup, the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey's Philhar Magic Movie etc,

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

We took our lunch at the Royal Banquet Hall, with some noodles and steamed rice.

Beauty and the Beast statue inside the restaurant

Tomorrow Land is another attraction for the kids, with the thrilling space adventures including Space Mountain (an indoor roller-coaster), Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Orbitron etc. I took a ride of Space Mountain, feeling dizzy after that. Haha…knowing that I’m old already and can’t take such an excitement.

Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story

I liked the Christmas Parade (“Let It Snow”) the most. You can sing with your favorite Disney Friends during this lively parade. Over 100 performers, all in glittering holiday splendor, entertain you from sparkling floats featuring nutcrackers, dancing elves, toy soldiers and more!

We left Disneyland at 6 p.m. reluctantly, missed the fireworks at 7 p.m. because the driver couldn’t pick up later. Sayonara…Disneyland!

天宫纺

During my stay in Shenzhen, the tour guide brought us to the silk outlet – 天宫纺 (nice name). The staff explained to us the procedure of silk production, from the egg to the end-product. I was not listening, busy with photo taking :D. The end products include silk quilt, silk pillow, silk scarf, silk clothes etc.
The silk egg
~ see the advice? Do not take it home otherwise hehehe...

The Emperor clothes

Can see the text? 弘扬古蚕绢文化,开拓新丝绸之路 from 江泽民... I saw another similar phrase at the Jade Shop also. I can say that China really emphasizes on their tourism industry and promotes their culture.

Window of the World, Shenzhen

Shenzhen’s Window of the World is one of the largest tourist attractions in China. This theme park covers 480,000 sq. m. and contains eight scenic areas, e.g. the World Square, the Area of Asia, the Area of Oceania, the Area of Europe, the Area of Africa, the Area of America, the Sculpture Park and the International Street.

Entrance of Window of the World

There are a lot of the world wonders (miniature models) such as the remarkable 108 metre-tall Eiffel Tower. Its top can be reached by elevator and the tourists could admire the beautiful scenery of Shenzhen and Hong Kong from there. For those who like skiing, you can enjoy yourself at the Alps Indoor Ski Dome.

Eiffel Tower, Paris and Alps Ice and Snow World

We spent three hours inside the theme park, taking photos around. Besides that, we also watched the 3D movie show and the Venezuela Mountain Torrents show. Below are some photos that I took there:

Caesar's Palace

Pyramids of Giza, Egypt

The Idyllic Sights of Windmills and Tulips, Holland

Cologne Catheral, Germany

The Taj Mahal, India

Although tiring, we enjoyed ourselves. It’s a good experience to see most of the world’s tourist attractions within few hours.

Splendid China and China Folk Culture Village, Shen Zhen

Do you know how many ethnics are there in China? The answer is 56. It will take ages to travel all the divisions in China to get know about them. As the shortcut, you can visit the Splendid China and China Folk Culture Village.

China Folk Culture Village

Splendid China displays the Chinese artificial scenery, showing most of the famous buildings and scenery in China, from Potala Palace in Tibet to Imperial Palace (Forbidden City) in Beijing. Other attractive scenery and buildings include The Great Wall, Shaolin Temple, the Temple of Confucius, the tomb of XiangFei (香妃墓), Yuanmingyuan etc.

China Folk Culture Village unfolds the vivid Chinese folk arts, customs and architectures to the tourists. The 24 villages of 22 minority nationalities were set up according to the ration of 1 to 1, including Va village, Dong village, Gaoshan village, Hani village, Jingpo village, Li village, Miao village etc.

Hundred Surname Street

There is a street called Hundred Surname Street (百姓街), with hundred of ancestors’ photographs hanging in a temple. As a Chinese, you can seek the ancestor trail, explore the surname origin and surname culture. I found my ancestor, but unfortunately I forgot his name after I came back from the trip :D (too bad for being absent-minded). There are two cultural shows daily, and my comment is GREAT + MARVELLOUS + EXCELLENT. Frankly, they are the best shows that I had ever watched so far. Each show takes one hour, but you wont feel boring at all. There are tourists from Japan and Korea that come to Shen Zhen just for watching the shows. I didn’t take any photo on the shows because it’s forbidden. Just a brief description about the shows:

Dancing with the Dragon and the Phoenix (龙凤舞中华)
It is a performance celebrating Chinese culture, use modern concepts and art forms to bring ancient China to life through their reinterpretation of traditional Chinese folk dances, opera and magic lantern shows.

Oriental Apparel (东方霓裳)
This is a grand folk costume poetic spectacle, consists of five acts: Northern Wind, Southern Flowers, Western Snow, Eastern Moon, and National Splendor. With the expression of romantic poetry and characteristics of distinctive folk art, it demonstrates colourful national costumes and Chinese ancient royal dresses.

After the shows, it was almost 8:30 p.m., little time left to do some shopping. The bus driver dropped us near the shopping area in Shen Zhen – 东门步行街, a lot of shops that sell clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, food etc. It’s the best place for shopaholics.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

found some funny jokes on Web and share with u all...

Young Business Man
A young businessman had just started his own business. He'd rented a beautiful office and had it brilliantly decorated.
Sitting there, he saw a man come into the outer office. Wishing to appear busy, the young businessman picked up the phone and started to pretend he was working a big deal. He was shouting huge figures and made giant commitments.
Finally, he hung up and asked the visitor, "Can I help you?" The man said, "Sure. I'm here to install the phone!"

FBI
The phone rings at FBI headquarters.
"Hello?"
"I'm calling to report my neighbor. He is hiding marijuana inside his firewood."
"Thank you very much for the call sir," replied the dispatcher.
The next day, FBI agents sneak up on the neighbor's house. They search the shed where the firewood is kept. Using axes, they bust open every piece of wood, but find no marijuana. They yell at the neighbor and leave.
The phone rings at the neighbor's house.
"Hey, Bill, did the FBI come?"
"Sure Did!"
"Did they chop your firewood?!"
"Yep!"
"Great, now it's your turn to call. I need my garden plowed!!"

Alphabet
Little Johnny asks the teacher, "Teacher, can I go to the bathroom?"
The teacher says, "Yes, but only after you recite the alphabet Johnny."
Little Johnny says, "Fine" and quickly babbles out: "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO_QRSTUVWXYZ!!!"
The teacher asks, "Where is the P?"
Johnny screams, "IT'S RUNNING DOWN MY LEG!!! PLEASE LET ME GO TO THE BATHROOM!!!"

Life and Computers
If Life Were Like A Computer:
  • You could add/remove someone in your life using the control panel.
  • You could put your kids in the recycle bin and restore them when you feel like it!
  • You could improve your appearance by adjusting the display settings.
  • You could turn off the speakers when life gets too noisy.
  • You could click on "find" (Ctrl, F) to recover your lost remote control and car keys.
  • To get your daily exercise, just click on "run"!
  • If you mess up your life, you could always press "Ctrl, Alt, Delete" and start all over!

Programmer and the Frog
A programmer was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess." He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket.

The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The programmer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket.

The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you and do anything you want." Again the programmer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.

Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess that I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?"

The programmer said, "Look, I'm a programmer. I don't have time for a girlfriend -- but a talking frog, now that's cool!"

Flooding

I was awakened early this morning by my mum, saying that flooding everywhere, so no need to go to work. Hehe...she thought too much. My company will not be flooded since it is located at non-flooding area. The road outside the gate was flooded, but not too deep, still managed to drive through. To avoid those flooded roads, I just ignored the traffic rules and drove wherever I could. :D (not only me, most of the drivers did so)

I managed to reach the company, but after half an hour, the boss declared holiday....Flood Holiday since some staff couldnt come to work due to flood. So we went back happily...cant go anywhere because the town area is seriously flooded (I heard so...dont know the real situation, didnt receive the newspaper today).

It's evening now, the flood didnt subside.....it seems that it's going to rain tonight. Oh no...I have to face the same situation again tomorrow :O. My brother is more pitiful, he needs to go to work even though the company area is flooding, walked through those dirty water... :X

Jokes of the Day

Macau Trip

It is my first time to step on the land of Macau – a city that is impressively influenced by Portugese culture. You can find Portugese words on most of the signboards, Portugese design on the buildings and Portugese food. The name "Macau" is derived from the name of a Chinese goddess, popular with seafarers and fishermen, known as A-Ma or Ling Ma. There are three islands – Macau, Taipa (International Airport) and Coloane that connecting one another through bridges.

It was almost 8 p.m. when we reached Macau. After check-in the hotel, we went to The Venetian – a new resort with shopping complex (The Grand Canal Shoppes) and casino in Macau. Several phrases to describe the Venetian – where glamour meets romance, where indulgence meets excitement and where thrill meets luxury, the design is very impressive.

There is a canal at the centre of the shopping complex – you can rent the canal boat with sailor that sings Portugese song during the sailing.

We dined at the foodcourt there, offered a wide variety of food, quite yummy :D.

The next morning we went to visit the most famous landmark in Macau – The Ruins of St. Paul. The church was built from 1602 to 1637. In 1835, a fire burned it to the ground, leaving only the façade, the staircase and portions of a wall. It remained unchanged until a restoration was undertaken and completed in the summer of 1991.

Many tourists crowded in front of the façade and took photos. We were impressed by the Portugese dance performance by young adults and children in front of the facade.

Due to time constraint, we went back to hotel, packed our luggage and set off to Hong Kong. There are several ways to travel from Macau to Hong Kong – airplane, ferry, TurboJet and helicopter. It’s quite rare to travel using helicopter – I never sit in a helicopter before. It only takes 20 minutes to reach HK but more expensive. We chose the cheaper way – the ferry, took almost 1 hour. The sailing was quite smooth, not very wavy. The ferry is clean and spacious, with comfortable seats and you can take nap during the sailing.
